About
Nathan
Azopardi
What if understanding ourselves requires us to stop separating science, lived experience, and imagination?
Over the past 20 years, Nathan has brought together ideas from neurobiology, endocrinology, psychology, education, technology, design, and systems thinking, building a body of work that connects disciplines rather than isolating them. Instead of viewing knowledge as separate fields, his work treats it as a single interconnected system shaped by biology, environment, and experience.
His research challenges the idea that people can be understood through a single diagnosis, discipline, or perspective. Instead, he investigates how hormones, neurons, environments, relationships, and recognition interact to shape the routes available to us, determining not only what we do, but what becomes possible.
Nathan is the creator of the thesis Permission Architecture and the Striatic Veto, a framework exploring how environments open and close opportunities for thought, action, communication, and learning. He is also the founder of The Sessions, Brilliantly Unbalanced, Understanding Burnout and The School of Abnormal, interconnected platforms designed to make complex science accessible through storytelling, creativity, interactive education, and real-world experience.
His work blends research with game design, visual communication, photography, writing, and systems thinking. Rather than separating disciplines, he uses them together to build new ways of understanding human behaviour and learning.
Nathan's mission is not simply to explain the brain, but to help people see that they are not fixed into categories, biological, psychological, or social, but are dynamic systems shaped by context, connection, and possibility.
"When we stop fragmenting knowledge, we start seeing people more clearly."
